  Eric Does It Again
Story And Photos by Mary Ann LeBlanc

The EDC Concert in the Park was welcoming Country Singer Eric Dodge and his band last Saturday night.  Eric and his band gave a super performance and plan to come back if they are invited again in the future.  The performers even interacted with the crowd by singing and dancing on and off the stage.  Eric Dodge said he loves California City and already made a lot of fans in our town.  This humble, laid back and quiet young man (when he is not performing) is also a real patriot and dedicated a lot of his songs to our military heroes.  He is a real rising star and already performed with numerous top country singers like Little Texas, Chris LeDoux, Diamond Rio, Collin Ray, SheDaisy and many more.  No doubt Eric is now in their class and will continue to climb the road of success.  (You can follow Eric at: WWW.ERICDODGE.COM)

Eric Dodge concert in the Park was the second in a summer series of six concerts brought to us by a joint collaboration between California City Economic Development Corporation and California City Parks and Recreation.  The next in the series will be the local group BLUE DIAMOND who’s last year performance was so impressive.  No doubt these Ladies will deliver a great show this year again.  Write down June 16 on your calendar.  Remember that all profits from those concerts will be used solely for the restoration of our Central Park.

California City Economic Development Corporation would like to thank all the participants, volunteers and the sponsors who generously gave in one form or the other to make these events possible.  A special thanks to:  Old Cal City Coffee Co., Cal City Carpets, Tierra del Sol Villages, Pizza Factory, RE-MAX Clearview, Mojave Desert Bank, Mellor Printing, Coldwell Banker, California City Homes, Parker Construction, California City Real Estate, Silver Saddle Ranch & Club, Radio Shack, Postal Annex, IMC Real Estate, Cal City Business Park and every one else who thinks: What can we do for our City? Not what our City can do for us.

31 Arrested In Crime Sweep In California City
  Story by Sgt Eric Hurtado
  Police In Action

A multi-agency operation involving 50 Officers from California City Police Department, Kern County Sheriff's Department, Investigators from the Housing and Urban Development, State Parole, Kern County Probation Department, and Ridgecrest Police Department netted the arrest of 31 individuals in California City. The operation targeted known wanted persons from communities in and outside of Kern County that have moved to California City, recently released criminals who were on probation or parole and were in violation of their conditions of release, suspected local drug houses, and individuals under the influence of drugs outside local businesses.

Officers seized a large quantity of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia throughout the day. In one suspected drug house in the 19000 block of Conklin, 5 people were arrested for various drug charges and outstanding warrants. A search by the Kern County Gang Task Force and California City Police Officers at a second suspected drug house in the 7500 block of Poppy Blvd resulted in the arrest of 3 people for drug charges, felony warrants, and traffic charges.

Special Investigators from the Housing and Urban Development agency accompanied the different teams throughout the City. The HUD Investigators discovered seven "SECTION-8" funded home renters, who were hosting criminal activity and are facing termination of government assistance along with criminal charges. The HUD Investigators will be working with California City Police Department in several other cases of reported government assistance abuse in the community.

Friday's operation is the first of several where Officers from the California City Police Department will be arresting suspects involved in the recent crimes in the community. More arrests are expected over the next few months as Officers track down suspects in over 100 open cases in this small community.

Local Author Wrote A Reality Based Novel

Pierre A Kandorfer, Ph.D.Clouds Over Beverly Hills

Pierre A. Kandorfer, Ph.D. wrote a classic Beverly Hills/Hollywood lifestyle thriller, "Clouds Over Beverly Hills". It delivers all suspense type ingredients, twists, and turns of a highly touching family drama. When Jane, a thirteen year old Beverly High student, inexplicably catches AIDS, her family is turned upside down. The textbook-like police work points to liberal ‘everything goes’ parties and an international child sex-ring. From here, the story becomes a roller coaster for everybody involved.  Jane is abducted and ends up in a Mexican sex slavery brothel. The detectives face gigantic odds, but keep trying to rescue Jane. There isn’t much hope, unless they try something they’ve never done before.

Pierre A. Kandorfer is a veteran journalist with thirty-five years of media background. Being half French, half Austrian, he grew up in the middle of Europe and has done “everything”: From working as a news reporter to advancing to  a Director of Programming. From producing a TV commercial to running a nationwide TV broadcasting venture. From being awarded an international film prize to writing, producing and directing a movie series.

Pierre Kandorfer has written thousands of articles, hundreds of TV programs and six media books. Pierre Kandorfer has a Ph.D., speaks several languages, taught filmmaking and TV production in Europe and is considered a media analyst with special focus on media, arts, and aviation.

In addition to his primary career as writer, producer and director, he is an internationally acclaimed abstract and neo-impressionist painter and an FAA licensed commercial pilot. As founder of “EuroChannel Broadcasting” and “Aviation Television” he created countless TV programs on aviation, arts, media, and other topics. Nowadays, he is mostly working on the things he likes most: Flying airplanes, painting, and writing books.

The book is published by Booksurge Publishing, am Amazon company, and is available on Amazon.com, Target.com and through other sources.
