Saturday, June 14, the California City Optimist Club held its first Annual Charity Casino Night at the Community Center (now California City Art Center) and the event was a success regardless of the small crowd. Many sponsors had donated, even if they could not attend. The Optimist Club's primary objective was to raise funds for their crusade of helping our youth, and having fun doing so. The evening was memorable for its fantastic BBQ dinner and casino table games. Not every day can you act like you are in Vegas and can spend hundreds of dollars on a hand of Blackjack or a turn of the Roulette. These "play money" games are more and more popular these days and face it; Where else can you gamble all night and be out of the price of a dinner only, not mentioning the gas you save! |
