  Illegal Dumping Doesn't Go Unnoticed
  Photos by The Barkers
For some people, the desert is a great place to ride off road vehicles.  And for others, it is a dumping ground for their household waste.  It is sad, but true, a family riding their off road vehicles has to dodge the obstacle course of unnatural piles of trash that someone illegally dumped in this beautiful desert.  Why?
Because some people are lazy, or maybe they can't afford to pay their water & trash bill, so their service gets discontinued.  Now, they can dump all their trash in the desert, because it is free, and they have money to pay for the gas in their car to get out far enough in the desert to dump it.  But if they get caught, the penalties are far greater than the water & trash bill.  If they don't get caught, the desert and the wildlife, and the families that enjoy the desert suffer the most.
Too much trash does not make it to the garbage trucks.  Instead, it may blow around the city, and eventually end up in the desert.  It is time to assure everyone's trash gets to the proper dump.  Where are you Code Enforcement?

California City Fire Department Puts Water Back Into The Lake
Story & Photo by Cris Sandstrom
Today California City Fire Department was practicing and checking equipment at the lake. They explained that they need to practice using available water in remote areas on occasions, when they run out of water in the truck.  So they pulled water from the lake and shot it right back in. Not a real fire (thank goodness), but fascinating.
